Prince William County 14th High School
Owner: Prince William County Public Schools | Services: Independent Cost Estimate, Estimate Reconciliation
Axias provided an independent third-party construction cost estimate for the proposed Prince William County Public Schools 14th High School, a planned 400,000-square-foot campus designed to serve approximately 2,500 students in Woodbridge, Virginia.
The County engaged Axias after significant differences emerged between independently prepared construction estimates. Working under an accelerated schedule, our team analyzed the underlying assumptions, quantified the sources of cost variance, and prepared an independent opinion of probable construction cost and a detailed estimate reconciliation. This objective analysis provided County leadership and the School Board with a clear understanding of the project’s anticipated costs and the factors driving estimate differences, supporting informed capital planning and funding decisions.
Following completion of the study, Prince William County Public Schools reevaluated the project in light of changing enrollment forecasts, evolving facility needs, and updated construction costs. The School Board ultimately elected not to advance the project as part of its revised Capital Improvement Program.
