The school district successfully passed a referendum in 2020 that cleared the way for replacement of the Avenel Street School, which is almost 100 years old and in a state of disrepair. The program for the new building, which will house nearly 400 students in grades K -5, includes classrooms, auditorium, gym, courtyard, playground, and 100 parking spaces.
