Hale Koa Hotel
Owner: Department of Defense AFRC | Services: Cost Estimating
Originally built in 1975, the Hale Hoa Hotel, located on 72 acres on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, is one of four U.S. Armed Forces Recreation Centers worldwide. The hotel is exclusively for military members, families, and their guests.
Army Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) planned a comprehensive renovation of the resort property to improve the resort experience for military families. These improvements included a complete renovation of the Maile Tower with interior finish upgrades to 400 guest rooms, interior improvements to the Llima Tower guest rooms, and a new 17-story tower to add additional room capacity to the resort while maintaining the existing rooms’ ocean views.
Other parts of the comprehensive renovation project focused on improving the guest arrival experience, improving back-of-house spaces, and upgrading the hotel infrastructure and HVAC systems. Axias supported the initial project valuation assessment by developing a feasibility-level construction cost estimate and DD1391 for the planned project.
