Hilton Crystal City
Owner: JBG Smith | Services: Project Management
The Crystal City Hilton, now known as the Hilton National Landing, is located on Jefferson Davis Highway near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The renovation of this 1970s-era hotel focused on refurbishing and repairing the brutalist-style structure and exterior precast concrete cladding panels. The project scope included removing and replacing selected finishes, repairing slab edges, columns, and repairing precast façade panels that were separating from the building structure.
The project was planned with a phased construction approach to maintain normal operations and keep the hotel occupied during construction. The client enlisted Axias to serve as project manager, providing oversight throughout the design phase and working closely with Cooper Carry Architects and SK&A Structural Engineers. Axias also managed on-site construction, provided cost estimating and value engineering services, and assisted with general contractor procurement and permitting.
