Marketing & Proposals Manager

Axias is seeking a Marketing & Proposals Manager to join our close-knit and inclusive marketing team, based in Alexandria, Virginia. As part of the Axias Marketing & Proposals team, you will contribute to various marketing efforts across multiple sectors and geographies, with a balance of marketing communications and proposals/business development activities.
Axias' in-house marketing team provides hands-on coordination and creative support in developing proposals and interview pursuit strategies and finding external opportunities to promote and share the firm's knowledge and expertise using proactive marketing strategies.
The Marketing & Proposals Manager will be able to explore skills and interests while leading projects, including social media, award submittals, website design, and proposals, supported by a web/graphic design-focused marketing coordinator. We are looking for a thoughtful communicator, creative problem solver, and strategic thinker that resonates with our values. The ideal candidate will have familiarity and experience with the A|E|C industry, bring an understanding of AEC industry terminology and systems, and have the ability to understand and adopt technology platforms quickly.
We offer a flexible/hybrid working environment balancing in-office and remote work. This position is based in the Axias Alexandria, VA office and reports to Axias' Director of Marketing & Proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS

On-the-job training will be provided to cultivate skills to work effectively in the fast-paced environment of the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Graphic design and layout capabilities (experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus)

RESPONSIBILITIES
Proposals / Pursuits
Take ownership of production for responsive marketing efforts, such as responding to proposals for project pursuits and preparing information packages, interviews, and presentations. We are looking for a highly organized individual that can schedule and keep multiple marketing efforts on track to meet deadlines. Activities include:
Helping to develop win strategies for pursuits with service/office leads.
Attending preproposal conferences both in person and virtual
Gathering complex or technical information from various sources, synthesizing it, and using it as a basis to craft cohesive and compelling narratives and collateral.
Preparing statements of interest and qualifications, proposals, SF330 forms, collateral materials, miscellaneous marketing, and marketing-oriented correspondence.
Participate in planning and presentation rehearsal with teams and help develop and apply the established win strategy, themes, and discriminators in presentation materials.
Marketing Organization and Support
Centralize information about the business development activities of the local office and those of a firm-wide nature that are orchestrated through that office, including such things as leads, contacts, and schedules of business development events.
See that information is shared in a timely way among team members; manage timely decisions and actions in business development pursuits.
Write and update collateral materials for project descriptions, proposals, presentations, as needed
Marketing Promotions
Develop communications calendar with ideas for internal communications: project news, employee promotions, thought leadership, conferences. Write and assist with developing message and content
Supports thought leadership initiatives
Coordinate conference attendance and sponsorship
Professional and Community Involvement
Actively involved in professional marketing/communications organizations
Attend industry and client events as needed
Assist Business Development efforts with competitor analysis, client strategy, conducting web research, etc.
Research leads generated from business development efforts
Research local market to monitor economics and identify key people, trends and project opportunities
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Architecture, or other applicable degree program.
Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
3-5 years in a marketing role for an architecture, engineering or construction company
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (Primarily InDesign)
Working knowledge of CRM database programs such as Deltek or Unanet
Experienced with federal contracts / proposals preferred
Comfort in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
Attention to detail and quality of work
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to take ownership of a project and see it through to completion
Well-developed writing skills and proofreading ability
Capable of working productively in a team setting, as well as independently
