Axias Role: Facility Condition Assessment

The Woods Academy is a private, co-ed, inclusive Catholic school in Bethesda educating children in preschool, lower school, and middle school. Over the past several years The Academy has been developing a comprehensive facilities master plan to improve and modernize its buildings and exterior space to meet the future needs of the school.  The master planning effort includes establishing green building priorities and identifying, prioritizing, and planning for capital improvements and enhancements. To help meet these goals, The Woods Academy engaged Axias to complete a facility condition assessment (FCA).

Originally constructed in 1967, The Woods Academy had a major expansion completed in 2003. The FCA focused on the 2003 addition and provided a high-level review of the primary original building, as a major renovation for that portion of the facility was planned.  Through our assessment, the Academy gained a better understanding of deferred maintenance and was able to incorporate immediate needs into the upcoming renovation and plan future capital renewal and improvements.
