The GSA recently unveiled the design concept for the new U.S. Chattanooga Courthouse; the modern facility consolidates federal courts, enhances security, and expedites construction time. The design team is led by HOK as Designer of Record with a plan for a secure and efficient building that pairs modern functionality with timeless civic architecture, creating a dignified landmark that will serve as the center of justice across the region.

“Our vision for the Chattanooga courthouse is to create a civic landmark that embodies transparency, dignity and resilience,” said Paul Woolford, design principal at HOK and lead designer on the project. “The design balances openness with the rigorous security needs of a federal courthouse, while also responding to the character of Chattanooga and creating a welcoming environment for all who enter.”

Axias is engaged to provide cost management services from preliminary through final design, including estimate reconciliation with a third party, conducting market surveys to analyze and understand local material, labor, labor availability, and equipment costs. Axias’ Certified Value Specialist also facilitated a value-engineering workshop that identified 80 cost-saving proposals for the owner.
