Virginia Tech

Axias has been supporting projects at the Virginia Tech Campus in Blacksburg, VA, since 2018, working directly for VA Tech under an IDIQ contract for cost estimating and scheduling services and through A/E partners. Our work at Virginia Tech has covered different project types, including demolition, ADA improvements, BSL Lab renovations, and large-scale new construction projects.

A new addition to the campus, the building will include classroom space for the Myers-Lawson School of Construction and a 600-seat multivenue dining facility.

A replacement for the existing Randolph Hall, the new building will be constructed within the building’s existing footprint and will continue to serve the College of Engineering, adding 70% more usable space and a modern, sustainable building.

The project will provide an integrated and clear means of traversing the grade changes that exist in this area of the campus and provide an accessible route between the buildings that currently can only be accomplished by lengthy detours through adjacent buildings.

The project includes remodeling existing BSL 3 Labs —located at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine & Fralin Life Science Institute— to create flexible animal suites and improvements to engineering controls and HVAC systems.
