Vizcaya Museum & Gardens Restoration

Owner: Vizcaya Museum & Gardens | Services: Cost Estimating, Scheduling

The Historic Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a 50-acre estate known for its stunning architecture, elaborate gardens, and waterfront views of Biscayne Bay. It was originally the winter home of James Deering, a wealthy industrialist, built between 1914 and 1922.

Axias was engaged as part of the design team supporting a restoration project focused on the Main House, the Formal Gardens’ landscaping and fountain, and the Vizcaya Village structures. Aspects of the program included accessibility and wayfinding improvements as well as MEP and fire life safety upgrades. Another critical element of the program is improving resiliency to protect from future hurricane damage while restoring and repairing damage from previous storms and preserving the historic fabric of the main building. Axias has provided cost estimating and scheduling services supporting the improvement program.
