Lead Cost Manager - Atlanta, GA
Axias is a growing construction cost, condition assessment and project management consulting firm, led by industry veterans with a first-class reputation for providing independent, practical and actionable advice to our clients. We are seeking a motivated Lead Cost Estimator/Manager with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the industry, ideally spanning several sectors such as hospitality, commercial, education and government. Our consultants provide our clients with a well-rounded skill set that includes cost estimating, bid analysis, change order management, life-cycle costs analysis, contractual interpretation and positioning, value management and all other commercial construction aspects. We encourage close collaboration between our cost managers, facility assessors and project managers, such that each benefit from the other’s project experience and complementary skill sets, continually improving the services we provide to our clients. This is a hybrid position with an expectation of at least 2 days per week spent in the Duluth, GA office.
Required Education: BS Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent professional designation
The specific duties for the position include the following, at minimum :
Leading the cost estimating service for the GA operation, assuming a vital role in the entity, reporting to Vice President Jonathan Bailey
Actively developing, managing and cultivating client relationships to generate growth of the service
Assuming a technical leadership role on existing contracts, projects and clients as needed
Participating in project interviews as required
Providing technical content and fee input into proposals as required
Networking in the local marketplace with owners, architects and other potential clients to continually feed the work pipeline
Providing quality control, high level reviews, staff mentoring and guidance
Providing senior cost management assistance on projects as required by the ebbs & flows of workloaded.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in quantity surveying/construction management/engineering or architecture, with the following specific requirements:
10+ years’ experience in construction cost estimating/cost management
Demonstrated client management, communication and organization skills
Ability to lead projects and manage resources such as staff and external sub-consultants
Ability to think strategically, plan and problem solve
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
Demonstrated stability and longevity in job history
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of cost management software is preferred but not mandatory, including on-screen take-off tools and database estimating systems such as MII, SUCCESS, CostOS and Timberline
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Excel, Teams and Word
