Axias Role: Cost Estimating
Before the project as described below was canceled in May 2020 due to cost concerns amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the proposed new arena was to replace the old rink, built in 1971 on a city-owned parcel.
The replacement facility was designed to incorporate dual ice rinks with spectator seating, team and women's locker rooms, changing rooms, pro shop, concession and vending areas with café seating, skate rental and changing area, two multi-purpose (party) rooms, and various other operational and administrative support spaces.
The site plan oriented the building for optimum street exposure and provided 250 parking spaces and a rear service road. The project, which was never built, was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
