This new community center is Arlington County’s first net-zero energy building. Designed by VMDO with a landscape focused approach to the surrounding park, the building contains multipurpose rooms, a fitness center with locker rooms, a gymnasium, a preschool program, community meeting rooms, a kitchen, reception, and office space for county Parks and Recreation staff. There is also underground structured parking for 130 vehicles.
Sustainable design features include a green roof, a geothermal system, photovoltaic panels, a gray and black water storage/treatment system, and bio-filter treatment areas.
