Axias Role: Value Engineering
The grand opening of Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Station 19, home of the Lorton Volunteer Fire Department, opened to much fanfare on June 25, 2022. The spacious two-story, four-bay, 23,000-square-foot facility was constructed on the same 3.3-acre site where an outdated, smaller facility was demolished in Phase 1 of the project. The new fire station features a kitchen, large community hall, fitness and locker rooms, and a laundry room.
Axias led the value engineering session and compiled the report for the two-phase project, which began in 2018 with crews moving out of the former station into temporary on-site facilities during demolition and construction of the new building and related site improvements.
